My Census Tract
Well I was lucky enough to be the example in class when we talked about our Census tracts. In class I said that I thought this census was out fo date because I thought that much more college students lived in the area as apposed to families. I would like to strike this statement from the record. There are MORE college students living in Little Italy than there were when this census was taken, but there are more families that live in this area then I had thought. I came up with this conclusion after writing my observation paper. I observed on a Saturday night and did see mostly college students, but this paper made me be more aware of my surroundings in everyday life. So now when I walk around my neighborhood I look at the different types of people in it. I think I used to see only college students because those are the people I noticed. But now that I have learned to not only be an active participant in my life as well as being an onlooker, I have learned that MANY families do live in my area. The ratio of families to college students may even be a great number of families!
