One major issue and how is relates to a discussion in class

In a discussion with the Vice President of Sales at Onyx Environmental Solutions, Pat Muldoon, I learned about a new trend going on in Chicago. The new trend in Chicago is called “going green.” The mayor has an initiative to make Chicago the greenest city in the country. But Pat says that Chicago is not even close to this goal. He says that we don’t even have a decent recycling system.

The possibility of us getting the Olympics is pushing the green initiative forward even quicker. The mayor’s office has high hopes for the newly appointed commissioner of the environment, Sadhu Johnston. The state of Illinois is offer in 10,000 grants to people who put solar panels on their buildings.

The benefits of going green: reduces the carbon footprint… everyday there is a certain amount of carbon you put into the atmosphere and this is almost measurable. By going green companies reduce this amount of carbon. One way to “go green” are using energy efficient light bulbs called CFL’s (compact fluorescents).
